In 1969 at just 14 years of age, Tony Staser started in the meat cutting industry. Tony’s life experiences led him to other professions where he perfected cooking meats, but he kept coming back to being a butcher.
In 1993, Tony met his soon-to-be wife, Sheryl. Sheryl came from a family of very talented cooks and cooking was always something she enjoyed. During their courtship days, Tony & his father took on a fun project together of building a homemade meat cooker. Sheryl said “I do” to Tony in 1995 and their passion and marriage to each other grew into a passion for barbecue and a marriage of both their talents when they cooked for and catered their own wedding.
Their passion for barbecue started small by hauling their cooker to a local gas station where they would sell their product. After doing this steadily for a year, customers began asking them to cater events. They obliged and the barbecue catering business grew so quickly that in 1997, they had to take the next step and rent a space to work out of and store their equipment and supplies.
It wasn't long after moving in before the locals were stopping by to see what was creating the remarkable aroma all over the neighborhood. Next thing they know, people were asking for carry-out! They took the next step and turned their storage space into a carryout restaurant with outdoor picnic tables for guests to enjoy the delectable food. Just a year later, they were able to acquire the building next door to their storage space turned carry-out restaurant and added a few tables for indoor dining. By the year 2000, the Staser’s outgrew that initial location and moved down the road to open a bar and restaurant that served more of the community.
The Staser’s perfected their recipes and started competing in BBQ contests from Owensboro, Kentucky to Memphis, Tennessee and all the way to Kansas… always managing to win a trophy and even earned the title of overall champion at one competition.
In 2005 due to health issues, the Staser’s made the difficult decision to close their business. Coincidentally enough, Tony went to work cutting meat again and the individual he worked for became interested in their sauce, fell in love with Sheryl’s magic dust spice blend, and started selling both in their stores. The Staser’s dreams were realized when in 2021, Kroger and JayC Stores started carrying their products as well.
The only way to go from here is up! Now the Staser’s want to get their product in the hands of the masses and are thrilled to have their products available on their very own E-commerce website.
Uses:
Rib Tip Tony’s Barbecue Sauce: Is versatile enough to be a condiment and an ingredient. The sauce is great in soups, chili, baked beans and even Bloody Mary’s. It is also great as an ingredient in dips, spreads, sloppy joes, pizzas, and scrambled eggs. The possibilities are endless!
Sheryl’s Magic Dust: Is excellent on just about anything you can imagine from steamed veggies and cottage cheese with tomatoes to popcorn. The Staser’s dare you to mix it with butter for an awesome garlic bread or spread. Try it today and let them know how you are using it!
